Penguin update, mobile first, and Google leaks – SEO is an ever-shifting landscape. To kick off our new Danish podcast, our host, Linus, has invited COO Martin Melcher and CEO Mohammad Dadkhah into the studio to share the trials and tribulations of their decade-long journey in the world of SEO and their entrepreneurial career.

Tag along for a light-hearted and informative session, where they take you through the early Wild West days of SEO, amusing encounters with black hat competitors, and their take on how SEO specialists should approach the current AI hype.

“Yes, we’ll see more AI results. But you have to keep in mind – is it a transactional or an informational search? […]. AI will become absolutely crucial on informational searches. But at the end of the day, it will have a minimal effect on the business side of things.”, says Mohammad.  

Among other topics, Mohammad and Martin also reminisce about doomsday prophecies and short-lived dayflys of SEO trends over the last decade including voice search and hotel and flight results on Google.

Mohammad: “Things get hyped up, but you have to take it with a grain of salt. […] Voice search came out 10 years ago. It was supposed to be the new shit. That didn’t happen”. 

“No, we don’t like to walk around and feel like idiots talking into the phone. Then you wonder, what do I need to use this for?”, Martin adds. 

Finally, they share their future predictions on what the future has in store for the industry and Google with the ascent of Reddit, TikTok, and Youtube as emerging platforms for search queries.

“The younger generation has begun to make queries on platforms like Reddit and TikTok. Back in the old days, you’d ‘Google things’. Today, you just log into Reddit and just ask your question there. So [Google] is increasingly feeling the pressure”, Mohammad adds.
